Three Simple Steps that Can Save a Life

(Please try to attend a CPR Training Course)

Call 9-1-1 and send for an AED

Picture
Check for responsiveness and breathing. Tap the victim firmly on the shoulder and call out to them. If they do not respond, move, or blink, check for breathing. If the victim is not breathing or only gasping, send someone to call 9-1-1 and get an AED. If alone, leave the person to call 9-1-1 if necessary.

Push hard and fast

Picture
Place your hands in the center of the chest (on the lower half of the breastbone). Push hard and fast to a depth of at least two inches and at a rate of at least 100 times per minute (faster than once per second). Compress the chest 30 times.

Breathe

Picture
After you have completed 30 compressions, open the airway by tilting the head and lifting the chin. Give two breaths. Deliver each breath over one second. As soon as the second breath is complete, provide 30 more chest compressions. Continue administering 30 compressions and 2 breaths until more help arrives.
