Every AED has the same 4 steps of operation
1. Turn on the AED
Some devices have an "ON" button. Press it to turn on the device. Others turn on automatically as soon as you remove the lid. As soon as the AED is turned on, the device will speak to you to provide you with further instructions.
2. Attach the pads to the victim's bare chest
Remove the pads from the device and plug them in if necessary (with most AEDs the pads are already plugged in). Peal the backing and attach the pads one at a time as shown in the picture. Pads have pictures printed on them to help direct you in proper placement. Place one pad above the right breast, below the collar bone and alongside the breast bone. Place the other pad below the left breast, on the rib cage,
wrapping from side to front.
3. Allow the AED to analyze the heart rhythm.
The AED will automatically start to analyze the heart rhythm as soon as the pads are attached. Make sure no one is touching the victim while the AED is analyzing the heart.

3. Allow the AED to analyze the heart rhythm.
The AED will automatically start to analyze the heart rhythm as soon as the pads are attached. Make sure no one is touching the victim while the AED is analyzing the heart.
4. Deliver the shock.
AEDs will only deliver a shock if the victim's heart is in a condition where a shock will help. If told to by the AED, make sure no one is touching the victim and then push the shock button to deliver the shock. Some AEDs will deliver the shock automatically. Perform CPR immediately after the shock is delivered or if the AED stays that no shock is advised..
